Officially Engaged
In what felt like the most emotional moment in the history of the WWE, ring champion John Cena went
down on his knee to propose his girlfriend of four years Nikki Bella. The couple has been in a serious
relationship with news of this on again off again romance peppered throughout the timeline. And just as
news of a supposed split between the two had started to erupt, Cena took the stand to clear their
positions once and for all. However, it all turned out as a sweet surprise, a very memorable moment in
the game when long-time wresting champion finally popped the big question with a bigger sparkler in
his hand.
Toggling the microphone and the ring in his hands, the wrestler enunciated his lines with a voice heavy
with emotions. "I've been waiting so long to ask you this," he said, and after a brief pause, he asked,
"Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace, will you marry me?"
The proposal didn’t have the flare and flourish of a celebrity engagement where individuals go out of the
way to make the moment dramatic. Just after the two had smashed and crushed their opponents in
Wrestlemania 33, Cena took the opportunity to make his move. The crowd was wild with cheering from
their victory that evening, but that was nothing compared to the hoots and cheers that came raining
down on the newly engaged couple after Cena had posed his big question.
Bella who was caught by surprise just as everybody else in the audience was excited with a medley of
emotions. With misty eyes, she hugged and kissed her fiancé as she articulated “yes” many times. This is
a sight that one hardly gets to witness inside a wrestling ring, let alone at the end of a gripping match.
The audiences were overwhelmed and so was the media. From his own lines, it seems like Cena has
been planning this for a while now, probably waiting for the right moment to bring it on. However, the
smashing victory of Wrestlemania 33 seemed apropos to the plan. What could have been a better way
to end the evening of celebration of their victory than to ask the long awaited question? The sparkler is
a massive one, an accessory that is spotted in Nikki Bella’s fourth finger all the time following that
