The Internet is buzzing with the news of Ariana Grande’s surprise engagement to Saturday Night Live’s star Pete Davidson. Davidson 24 and Grande 25 had been publicly dating for a while and their romance had sparked the interest of millions of fans around the world who were eager to know if the pop star had finally met her Prince Charming.
The news came as a bit of a surprise wherein the duo confirmed that they are now engaged, with Ariana debuting her lovely big engagement sparkler early in June at her performance in Los Angeles. Pictures of the ring went around the Internet and an audience eager with anticipation wanted to learn about the bedazzling piece of jewelry that forever became a part of Ariana’s accessory.
The sparkler features a charming pear-cut white diamond which weighs 3.03 carat. Although not essentially a rock-size stone, the gem is remarkable in size and feature. Davidson paid a gnarly $93, 000 for the drool-worthy ring. Set in a platinum band which is sprinkled with small white diamonds all around, the big ring with its extra big price label is impossible to not like. While it carries the glamor and grandeur of luxe jewelry, the engagement ring also has the balanced note about it. The pear-cut diamond at the center is not the solitary stone at the center.
The sparkler is aggrandized by a line of smaller diamonds which go around the pear-cut diamond to create a lovely halo. The accenting of the platinum diamond ring further enhanced the radiance of the center stone. The ring is designed by Manhattan-based celebrity jeweler Greg Yuna who told E! Online that the ring took him 2 weeks to design. Davidson contacted Yuna with a rough outline of how he wants the ring to be. The jeweler at once took to the task of fashioning a jaw-dropping bling which he liked instantly.
The 3 carat center stone, Yuna confirmed is grade flawless with VVSI clarity. The 3 carat stone is large enough to occupy Ariana’s first knuckle, and that gives it a size advantage. The stone, because of the slight fingers of its wearer and the perfect pear cut appears larger than its real carat weight. Pear cut, like oval cut and a few other fancy cuts are known to have the size advantage which brilliant cuts are short of. The pear cut is a shallow cut and that gives the stones an illusion of size. In pear cut stones appear larger than round or cushion cuts. To add to that, the elongated shape of the cut maximizes the size of stones.
But despite everything, Grande’s ring is a superb piece of work by designer Greg Yuna. The diamond with quality as high as hers is hard to find even in Hollywood, assures Arasheben. The tear shape of the stone that Davidson chose turns out to be apt for the pop star when she has just released her hit single called “No Tears Left to Cry”.
