Instagram exploded when Lily Collins made the announcement of her engagement to director boyfriend Charlie McDowell late in September. The actress posted a sweet photo of the two kissing, an unmissable sparkler planted neatly on her ring finger. Since then, Collins has made a ton of virtual appearances for chat shows where her engagement and her remarkable artefact of engagement have taken center stage.

Actress Lily Collins, daughter of musician Phil Collins who had made her break into Hollywood with the iconic role of Snow White is now a known name in the cinema industry. The actress who has dated many A-listers in the past has been seeing director Charlie McDowell for the past few months.
Amidst the pandemic when good news are rarer and rarer, the two turned to social media to announce that they are now engaged to be married. The actress sweetly captioned her post with “I've been waiting my lifetime for you and I can't wait to spend our lifetime together...”
She later told in interviews that she and her boyfriend were taking some time off travelling in their caravan when McDowell popped the question. The director, 37 got down on one knee in a place surrounded by pristine nature to propose to the lady with what we can all agree upon is a gorgeous engagement ring. The actress was emotionally surprised and didn’t wait to share the news with the world.
Now about the ring that’s making ripples, it’s one of the most unique engagement rings seen in recent times. The ring features a rose cut stone set in a cushion cut setting on a dainty skinny band. Rose cuts, although extremely beautiful, are not commonly seen anymore. Believed to be the older version of the present day round cut, it features very few facets and a lovely rose shape.
McDowell’s choice of this unique cut at once makes the ring rare and flattering. The rose cut stone is set on a modern bezel which is curved with brushed gold. Although we don’t know for sure, but the stone is estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 carats.
As for the price, that’s still under speculation. Apeksha Kothari the COO of Rare Carat estimated the right to have cost somewhere between $75, 000 and $100, 000. This is a long shot from the earlier estimations which were around $30, 000.
Kothari added that rose cuts are antique, therefore costlier than the contemporary cuts. She is all praises for the settings, which she says lets the stone shine with its obscurity. Whatever element or elements are behind the optics of the ring, we all can agree that the actress has been lucky in love, first to have found a doting fiancé and one with a great taste in jewelry.
