The Archduke Joseph Diamond sells for much more than expected, News 4

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Though Christie’s was only expecting to get about $15 million, they ended up fetching far more than that for the famed colorless diamond, the Archduke Joseph Diamond. Last year, Christie’s auctioned off the Archduke Joseph Diamond, and reportedly got a staggering $21,474,525.00.

This price reflects a triple dollar increase of the price this gem was bought for only 2 decades ago. The Archduke Joseph Diamond is a 76.02 carat, colorless diamond with no internal flaws. It came from the Golconda mines in India, and it was named for the Archduke of Austria, Joseph August.
