An auction at Christie’s Paris, which was held recently, saw a 14.03-carat emerald as the leading lot that sold for €756,000 ($809,201), more than doubling its upper estimate of €350,000 ($374,630). Highlighting the Paris Joallerie sale which lasted from June 12 through 21 was this loose step-cut unmounted octagonal Colombian emerald and it brought in €10.5m ($11.2m) total.
Boucheron also achieved excellent sales with a pair of earrings featuring cushion brilliant cut Kashmir sapphires weighing 3.91 and 3.46 carats amidst diamonds. They went under the hammer for €693k ($741k) almost twelve times above their top estimate of €60k ($64,222). Another piece worth mentioning is a piece by Van Cleef & Arpels: a ring with a rectangular step-cut 10.45 ct diamond with E color grade and VS1 clarity (€378k/$405k), within its estimated range.
The figure below shows an example of Cartier necklace set with emeralds, onyxes black enamel and diamonds that surpassed its upper limit of $214067 by reaching $350641 (€327,600/$350,641). On the other hand, Tabbah had another one-of-a-kind necklace which fetched a price of €327,600 way over its high estimation of €250k ($267551).
