Diamonds, Sapphires, Antiques and Contemporary Pieces at Bonhams Auction

Fancy Intense Blue diamonds are rare and hence popular among diamond collectors. One such oval cut intense vivid blue diamond will be on sale at Bonhams London auction. The sparkling diamond weighs 3.81 carats and is expected to fetch between $1,500,000- $2,000,000. It will be displayed at the auctions with a GIA report on the rarity of blue diamond. The Head of Jewelry for Bonhams UK & Europe, Jean Ghika said that the occurrence of blue diamond is extremely rare and it accounts for only 0.004% of total diamond count. Particularly, this blue diamond appears at the show without any modifying or secondary color which arouses lot of interest in the global market.

Bonhams has a glorious record of selling fancy vivid blue diamonds at brilliant prices. It holds a world record for selling fancy deep blue diamonds at $1.77 million per carat. Along with this blue diamond which is the highlight of the auction, a sapphire and diamond ring weighing 18.77 carats is also a part of this brilliant show. The ring features an oval cut sapphire in the center along with brilliant-cut diamonds with pave set diamond shoulders. Another pair of Kashmir sapphire earrings with diamond halo will also be up at the auction for diamond lovers. The cushion-shaped sapphires with diamond halos appear exceedingly beautiful.

In keeping with the trend, the show will also display an emerald and diamond cluster ring belonging to the period of 1960. The bright emerald weighs 12.50 carats and is accentuated with diamonds. An antique pair of diamond pendant earrings from the period of 1830 will also be auctioned at the show. The diamonds weighing 3.02 and 3.25 carats respectively are of E and F colors belonging to Type IIa of the classification by GIA. All in all, the Bonhams auction is going to be one of the most sparkling ones.

Rough and Polished Diamonds to Adorn the ALROSA Sale

ALROSA, the giant diamond miner will offer a 401.97 carat rough diamond and a 40.25 carat polished stone at separate sales beginning in the month of August at Vladivostok. The sale had begun from 23rd of August and will continue till 3rd September. This particular rough diamond is part of a stock of 19 diamonds which will be up for sale at the miner’s International Auction or Special Size Rough Diamond. The entire weight of all 19 diamonds is 1,098 carats. The show will be more interesting because along with the 19 rough diamonds, a stock of 28 polished diamonds will also be sold simultaneously.

The 40.25carat round diamond is one among the 28 polished diamonds which will be sold at the same time. This particular gemstone is the largest among the polished diamonds being displayed at the show. 18 diamonds out of those 28 are fancy colored while 5 of them weigh more than 5 carats each.

The Replica of Russian Imperial Crown Making its Debut in Front of European People

The Replica of the Great Imperial Crown of the Russian Empire will be exhibited at the Hermitage Amsterdam Museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands from June 18, 2016 – January 17, 2017. The exhibition is dedicated to Catherine the Great and this is the first time the replica of this crown will be presented to the people of Europe. The crown has been crafted from gold encrusted with over 11,000 natural polished diamonds of ideal cut and best quality. The wreath of the crown features an exclusive rubellite weighing almost 400 carats. This replica was crafted by over 60 Smolensk master jewelers by spending 6 months on the item.  

The Imperial Crown is the representation of the Russian regalia and the replica has been dedicated to the formation of the personality of Catherine II. The exposition exhibits not just jewelry items; it also exhibits weaponry, costumes, arts, paintings, china and several other objects totaling to 400 items. The exhibition is also significant because diamond cutting and polishing industry is celebrating their 50
th year or anniversary.
